D. Kevin Powers

Mr. D. Kevin Powers has worked for Custom Music Company for 22 years applying his knowledge and skills in musical instrument technology to the continued improvement of low brass instruments.

Mr. Powers has maintained the shop at CMC using state of the art tooling and materials. His experience in repair, design, machining, modification and custom alteration have helped to keep CMC at the fore-design, machining, modification and custom alteration have helped to keep CMC front of new product development.

Along with owning Michigan Musical Instrument Service and Dy Music USA Inc., Mr. Powers worked for several large retailers as a repair technician before working for Shilke Musical Products in Chicago in the early 1980's. Michigan Musical Instruments Service began as a custom repair and modification company for professional musicians also providing short run parts for small manufacturers. Mr. Powers other company, Dy Music USA Inc., imports and distributes band instruments throughout the USA and Canada. Most of the instruments offered by Dy Music have been altered or improved by Mr. Powers to fit the need of North American players.

Mr. Powers has played professionally on both the french horn and guitar.

   
Neal Campbell

Neal Campbell is the Tuba Artist in Residence for Custom Music International. Neal play tests instruments, provides feedback on design, works with customers and provides artistic and educational support for Custom Music. In addition to his duties at Custom Music, he is the tuba/euphonium instructor at Wayne State University and the University of Toledo. Neal is also a commercial pilot and certified flight instructor at a flight school in Pontiac, Michigan.

Mr. Campbell has served as tuba/euphonium instructor for the University of Michigan All State Program at the Interlochen Arts Camp and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. He has performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Toledo Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra, River City Brass Band and Detroit Chamber Winds and Brass. Neal has been a guest soloist and clinician at international and regional conferences.

Mr. Campbell attended Millikin University, Indiana University and the University of Michigan.

   
Daniel Perantoni

Tuba artist, teacher, pedagogue, and solo recitalist, Daniel Perantoni is an innovator in a variety of genres including chamber music and jazz. He has appeared as the featured artist at Carnegie Hall, the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Spoleto Festival U.S.A., the Adelaide Festival in Australia, the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada, the Montreux Brass Congress in Switzerland, and recently as a soloist throughout Japan.

Mr. Perantoni was a founding member of Summit Brass, a member of Symphonia, the Saint Louis Brass Quintet, and the Matteson-Phillips Tuba jazz Consort. He has produced numerous solo and chamber music CDs. Along with Robert Tucci, Mr. Perantoni designed the "Perantucci" line of low brass instruments and mouthpieces.

Mr. Perantoni serves as the vice president for educational matters and consultant/clinician for Custom Music Company. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the executive board of T.U.B.A. His students hold prestigious positions in major performing ensembles and music schools around the world.

   
Jeffrey Rideout

Jeffrey Rideout is currently tuba artist/clinician for Custom Music Company in Ferndale, Michigan. He coordinates the operations related to tuba/euphonium marketing and sales. Custom's reputation has been recognized as a leader in tuba and euphonium design and development for the last 30 years. As a result of this constant development for and by leading professionals and educators, new instruments and designed are introduced on a regular basis.

Mr. Rideout has had college teaching experience having performed duties for Ball State University as full time music faculty. At Ball State, Jeff performed regular concerts with the Da Camara faculty brass quintet, performed with regional orchestras, coached student brass quintets and brass choirs, directed the tuba-euphonium ensemble, and taught all low brass students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Rideout has completed work in music performance degrees at Ohio State University (MM) and Arizona State University (DMA).

While resident tuba specialist for Custom Music, he has presented numerous clinics and performances at state music educator conferences, emphasizing training for the younger player.
